Well, where do we start… Lower Milton Cottage has been a dream of a place to spend my birthday… Thank you to the whole team for putting together such an excellent high standard of accommodation with the tiny details which have been appreciated throughout our stay The estate is amazingly well managed – I am sure we haven’t covered it all but we have given it a good shot! Your holiday begins on the approach to Lower Milton Cottage, enjoy the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest as you drive just a short distance down a pedestrian path to your dreamscape. One of the most peaceful Aviemore cottages – Lower Milton Cottage sits unassumingly as it has for 100’s of years, but upon entry you’ll be swept away by the stunning design features and style.
LIVING
Upon entering Lower Milton Cottage, you will immediately notice the exquisite style and comfort that permeates every corner of the property. The cottage has been thoughtfully designed, with each element telling its own unique design story.
The open plan layout of the kitchen and living area creates a sense of spaciousness and airlines, allowing for a seamless flow between these two important spaces. This design choice not only enhances the overall aesthetics but also promotes a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for socialising and spending quality time with loved ones.
Large windows grace the cottage, serving as portals that bring in ample natural light and offer picturesque views of the surrounding natural setting. The interplay between the interior and exterior spaces creates a harmonious connection, allowing you to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of nature from the comfort of the cottage – especially from the grand bay window bed! You might find yourself not wanting to leave this dream spot in the cottage as it comfortably allows you to gaze out into the garden. Or choose the large L shaped sofa to enjoy some well deserved rest. We have binoculars for wildlife viewing, board games and a fantastic selection of books if you’re interested in a digital detox. But those who want to click on the television, you can enjoy your favourite shows on the smart TV.
Head upstairs for the spacious bathroom with a tub perfectly placed under the large velux window to enjoy the views while you soak. Then retreat into the fabulously styled ivy drenched bedroom for a lovely night’s rest under the stars – enjoying yet another skylight window.
OUTSIDE
One of the highlights of your luxury stay at Lower Milton Cottage is the inclusion of an outdoor sauna. This feature allows you to unwind and relax while enjoying the picturesque surroundings. The sauna provides a wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate your body and mind, offering a tranquil and therapeutic experience. The outdoor sauna is where you’ll also find your shower. Treat yourself to the benefits of hot and cold water therapy by taking a dip in Lochan Mor and head back to the sauna to warm up. You can of course, skip the cold dip!
The garden features a patio right off the kitchen doors for outdoor dining. Make use of the pizza oven or bbq whilst you’re here.
CHILDREN
Cots and highchairs can be provided during your stay, just let us know in advance and we’ll have them in property for your arrival. Please note, since most little ones prepare their own comforts, we don’t provide cot sheets.
PETS WELCOME
We love dogs and gladly accept them into our properties – we charge a £25 pet fee to cover the extra cleaning charges to keep everything extremely pristine for you and other guests. Please see our terms and conditions for more information about pets.

LOCATION
Lower Milton Cottage is incredibly accessible by road, rail and air. Situated less than 15 minutes’ drive from Aviemore, 40 minutes’ drive from Inverness through stunning Highland scenery and just over an hour’s flight from London, you can be at the heart of the Scottish Highlands quicker than you may think.
BY RAIL
Aviemore Station is about 2 miles from Lower Milton Cottage and taxis are readily available. It is serviced by direct National Express and Caledonian Sleeper services from London and the south, and has links to all major cities (3 hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh). You can pick up a taxi from outside Aviemore Station or you can book a taxi on 01479 812000 or 01479 811111. If you aren’t heading straight to the cottages, you can leave your luggage with Aviemore Luggage Storage so you can easily explore without carrying your bags around with you.
Car hire – you can travel to Aviemore by train, and collect your hire car from Aviemore Car & Van Hire right outside the train station. Please see www.aviemorecarhire.co.uk who will meet you off even the earliest or latest trains.
The newly refurnished Caledonian Sleeper is the most luxurious and romantic way to arrive here and pulls in around 7am at Aviemore Station.
BY ROAD
Lower Milton Cottage is situated about 3 miles from the main A9 road from Perth to Inverness and 10-minutes by car from Aviemore.
BY AIR
Inverness Airport is only a 45-minute drive away, taking you through some stunning landscapes on the fast A9 road. Direct flights take just over an hour from London, with British Airways serving the airport daily from London Heathrow and Easyjet 3-5 times a day from London (Gatwick and Luton). LoganAir fly direct daily from Manchester, Birmingham and Belfast. Daily flights with KLM link Inverness to Amsterdam Schiphol, which then links to another 176 European cities. From Inverness Airport, you can collect a hire car from a number of competitively-priced providers.
We have a safe landing site if you would like to arrive by private helicopter. Please speak to use to arrange landing and onward transport.
