Loch Morlich
A stunning beach that is about a 20 minute drive from most of our cottages. They offer equipment hire for a variety of activities such as stand up paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing, lessons, and all in the beautiful settings of the Cairngorms and Glenmore Forest. Loch Morlich enjoys one of the finest settings of any loch in the country. It is surrounded by forests and fringed by beaches, with the stunning backdrop of the often snow-clad peaks of the northern Cairngorms.
Loch Insh
The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of multi-sport activities on site as well as a restaurant, bar and shop. It sits in the foothills of the Cairngorm National Mountains, at the lower end of Glen Feshie. The River Spey widens to form Loch Insh, creating the perfect setting for you to learn some or all of their wide range of sports in safety.

Snow Sports
Cairngorm Mountain is only a 15-minute drive from Rothiemurchus, and in season offers a range of pistes to suit all abilities of skiers and snowboarders, as well as access to exceptional backcountry routes. The ski season in the Cairngorms typically runs from Christmas to April but the climate is not such that snow can be guaranteed. We would always recommend use of a qualified guide if venturing off-piste. If you prefer your skiing at a lower altitude, why not try cross country skiing during the winter? A firm favourite of many locals, cross country or Nordic skiing is fantastic exercise and there are many specially-cut trails around or close to Rothiemurchus.
