Highland Coos in the Cairngorms

When you stay at one of our self-catering cottages in The Cairngorms, you have the unique opportunity to see Scotland’s most beloved animal, the Highland Cow, or “Heilan Coo.” These iconic creatures are not only a symbol of Scottish heritage but also a delight to observe in their natural habitat.

The Cairngorms National Park offers a stunning backdrop for spotting these majestic animals. With their long, shaggy coats and impressive horns, Highland Coos are well-adapted to the rugged terrain and harsh weather conditions of the Highlands. They are known for their gentle and friendly nature, making them a favorite among visitors.

All of our self-catering cottages are nestled within the beautiful Rothiemurchus estate, where you can embark on our popular Highland Coo Safari. This delightful adventure is guided by the knowledgeable Rothiemurchus Rangers, who are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience. They will help you explore this incredible area in a truly remarkable way, ensuring you leave with lifelong happy memories… and plenty of pictures of the adorable coos!
