Photography Tuition and Guiding
The Cairngorms have always been a dream destination for photographers - whether capturing its breathtaking mountain landscapes or some of its many rare and elusive wildlife species. We can arrange photography sessions which either focus on landscape or wildlife - you choose!
Wildlife Photography with Neil McIntyre
Neil is a past category winner in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards and in the British Wildlife Photography Awards. He offers a range of different wildlife photography sessions, from capturing the antics of the sweet little red squirrels from the hide near Forest Cottage, to an exhilarating day stalking and photographing the magnificent red deer. He can also guide you in photography of the rare but wonderfully enchanting crested tit, a characterful favourite with visiting photographers. See Neil’s website for more information and to make a booking - mention us and your booking reference number when booking to unlock some additional extras during your session.
Landscape Photography with Highland Wildscapes
Discover some fantastic photography spots off the beaten track with our highly talented local professional landscape photographer. Beginners are given guidance on camera settings, composition and how to plan a shoot, developing your skills through the day. Intermediate to advanced photographers cover more advanced techniques such as panoramas, HDR, and post processing techniques. Our guide is a qualified mountain leader so you will be given lots of nature interpretation throughout the session so you can get to know and appreciate this special Cairngorms landscape.
Your session will be completely tailored to your wishes and requirements, from a gentle wander in the woods near your cottage to a day walking on the Cairngorms. That could mean a detailed photographic exploration of Loch an Eilein itself to a minor expedition onto the mountains for sunset or the photography highlights of the plateau in a day. Full days and half days are possible, with a full day split over two sessions if you would like. Dawn shoots can be arranged to capture the magical light over the forest and loch. Please go to Highland Wildscapes for more information, prices or to book.
During April-September you can also enjoy watching and photographing the beautiful Osprey from loch side hides at the Rothiemurchus Fishery - described as "Best place in the world to watch ospreys fishing at close quarters" by wildlife cameraman Simon King, OBE, LLD, HonFRPS, HonFBNA. Fully guided, early morning and evening photographic trips to the loch side hides within the Fishery are available to book. Please call Rothiemurchus Activity Sales on 01479 812345 or book here.
