Shop ultra-local at Rothiemurchus Farm Shop and Deli
Foodie heaven right on your doorstep
The Rothiemurchus Farm Shop has always been known for its outstanding Highland beef and venison, raised on the estate itself and expertly prepared by our own butcher. But with an expanded range of food and drink and some really exciting new local and Scottish suppliers, you can now stock up on all you need for a week or more when you stay with us. From fresh baking to incredible award-winning cheeses - here's our pick of the latest newcomers to the shop, whose produce will have you coming back for more!
IJ Mellis
IJ Mellis of Edinburgh are firmly established as Scotland’s leading cheesemonger and supply the farm shop cheese counter with fine artisan and farmhouse cheeses. The glamorous showstopper in their range has to be the beautiful Alp Blossom - a delicate Alpine cheese coated with edible flowers. They have some mouthwatering washed rind cheeses such as Orcadian Westray Wife and Rollright from the Kingstone Dairy. Goat's cheese connoisseurs should pick out Elrick Log with its lovely lemony flavour, or firm and creamy Dorstone from the Neal's Yard Creamery. With bries, goudas, manchego, camemberts, parmesan, stilton and cheddar, there really is a cheese for every palate. With a huge variety of crackers, olives and quince paste, you could truly make a meal from the cheese counter alone! The shop always choose a “cheese of the week” with tasting notes and suggestions for accompaniments. mellischeese.net/
Cairngorm Leaf and Bean
A recent newcomer to the Farm Shop is Cairngorm Leaf and Bean, a specialist small batch coffee roaster from Boat of Garten, just a few miles away. You can buy your coffee as beans or ground in two blends. The Backyard Bothy mixes lightly roasted Sumatran Mandheling, Indian Monsoon Malabar and Brazilian Ipanema Topazio. Tasting notes mention molasses and dark chocolate - which sounds like the perfect after-dinner blend to us! The decaf blend is Mountain Water Wash Decaf - high grade Colombian beans naturally decaffeinated using the mountain water process. If you simply can't wait to get your coffee home, you'll be relieved to hear that you can always buy freshly ground and brewed coffee to go too! cairngormleafandbean.co.uk/
Mountain Cafe/Bothy Bakery
Breads and cakes are now supplied by Kirsten (KJ) Gilmour, who previously ran the famous Mountain Cafe in Aviemore for many years. Her new venture The Bothy Bakery is based in nearby Grantown on Spey and supplies the Farm Shop with three different fresh baked breads every Wednesday and Friday (and cakes and traybakes every day!). You can always choose from a French white loaf, a granary and a fancy flavoured loaf (flavours vary each week). May we suggest any would make the perfect accompaniment to a selection from the cheese counter? mountaincafe-aviemore.co.uk/
The Farm Shop is open 7 days a week from 10-4pm, and throughout the year also has an Outside Kitchen with BBQ daily - their own Highland beef is made into delicious burgers, and there are sausages, bacon rolls and veggie options too.
WE CAN SHOP AND DROP FOR YOU: If you arrive outside opening hours, why not take advantage of our shopping service? We'll send you a list of the entire Farm Shop range, just send us back your shopping list and your kitchen will be stocked for your arrival! A small charge applies for this service.
