Rothiemurchus

Rothiemurchus is a privately owned Highland Estate and one of the most treasured areas of the Cairngorms National Park. It has been under the stewardship of the Grant family since the 16th Century.

Today, Rothiemurchus is a special area for conservation. In the words of Johnnie Grant of Rothiemurchus, "a wonderfully rich network of habitats and wildlife, interdependent and evolving." In staying at any of the Hidden Highland Retreats you can enjoy unrivalled access to this extraordinary landscape and place.

Rothiemurchus offers a wide range of outdoor activities right on your doorstep. These include: archery, fishing, quad bike trekking, 4 x 4 driving (including Mini Land Rovers - new for Summer 2021), pony trekking, wildlife watching and clay shooting. The Rothiemurchus Centre (including Farm Shop and eatery The Barn) is a 5-minute drive from all the properties; many guided activities leave from there. Please book activities in advance using their online booking system. Or see our extras for some very special exclusive experiences that can be arranged for you during your stay.
